You’ve case to answer – Court tells late gospel singer, Osinachi’s husband

The dust over the death of popular gospel singer, Osinachi Nwachukwu, is yet to settle, as a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court sitting in Wuse Zone 2 has dismissed a no-case submission application filed by her husband, Peter Nwachukwu, who was accused of having a hand in her death.
In an attempt to extricate himself from the accusation, Nwachukwu had filed the application to challenge the homicide and domestic violence suit instituted against him by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, OAGF, in June last year.
Ruling on the application, Justice Njideka K. Nwosu-Iheme held that Nwachukwu had a case to answer and ordered him to open his defence in the matter.
Osinachi had died in April last year under controversial circumstances.

She had been alleged to be a victim of maltreatment and domestic violence in the hand of her husband.
Nwachukwu was subsequently arrested over the allegation, resulting in his prosecution by the OAGF.
Justice Nwosu-Iheme had remanded Nwachukwu at the Kuje Correctional Facility pending the hearing and determination of the case after he was arraigned and pleaded not guilty to a 23-count charge, bordering on domestic violence and homicide, among others.
A. Aliyu, his counsel, had filed a no-case submission, arguing that the evidence of medical practitioners presented by the prosecution completely exonerated his client from the charge of culpable homicide, an argument that failed to convince Justice Nwosu-Iheme.
