Xenophobic killings: National Assembly commiserates with Nigerians

The member, House of Representatives for Gombi/Hong Federal Constituency of Adamawa State  Hon.Yusuf Buba Yakub has said the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa is recurring, and calls for a immediate end to it.
The federal legislator made the disclosure in a press statement, on Wednedsay evening, and sent to journalists in Jos, Plateau state.
The legislator recalled that there was similar attacks and killings during the tenure of former President Jacob Zuma of South Africa.
Hon Yakubu, is the chairman, House Committee on Foreign Affairs, noted with regret that the ongoing attacks on Nigerians in South Africa got to it peak about a week ago, and have claimed many lives.
“The attacks on innocent and law-abiding Nigerians in some parts of the Republic of South Africa,especially, Japestown area of the commercial city of Jornesburg,which got escalated since August 29, 2019,is not acceptable to us as Members of the Parliament.”
According to the press text, the national assembly is much concern on the safety of Nigerians in Diaspora.
“I feel it incumbent upon us  to update you on what we do know and what we have also done to aid  the return of peace and peaceful coexistence in that theatre of confusion.”

“Permit me to use this occasion to ,again, express the sympathies of our Committee and,indeed,those of the Members of the entire House of Representatives to all Nigerians who have lost loved ones or property in what is happening in South Africa.”
