Ayodele Olalere
Minister of Works and Housing and  former governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday, lambasted the Lagos State governorship candidate of the People Democratic Party, PDP, Olajide Adediran popularly known as Jandor, saying working as his cameraman when he (Fashola) was governor of the state does not qualify him to become a governor.
Fashola spoke at the launch of ‘Eko Oni baje’ 10,000 foot soldiers held in Lagos  for Tinubu/Shettima candidacy and Sanwo-Olu/ Hamzat reelection bid.
According to Fashola, Jandor was ‘filming’ him when he was governor as one of his cameramen but he thought that ‘qualifies him to become governor.
He said the task of governing Lagos requires experience, adding that he gained the experience while serving as the Chief of Staff during Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration from 1999 to 2023.
Fashola said the incumbent governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu was one of the  cabinet members  at the time and has also gained experience in governance before becoming governor
He urged party faithful not to hand the state to anyone who does not have prior experience in government.
Fashola also carpeted the Presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar for dividing the country. He said Atiku’s decision to contest the president of the country has divided the country as it’s the turn of the South to produce the next president.
He said Atiku’s ambition  which led to  the decision of five governors of PDP called the G5 to work against the interest of the PDP has weakened the party more. He urged Lagosians to vote for APC in the coming election.
The governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu commended party faithful at the event for their commitment to the party and urged them to reach every nook and cranny of the state to campaign for APC.
He said Lagos has the largest population and should reflect in the number of votes expected for the party.
Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat said the election will determine the survival of Nigeria.
He called on older party faithful to ‘educate our children’ on the importance of the election.
“This election is not about sentiment, it’s about facts. The opposition are just lying to the people but Nigerians are intelligent,” he said.
Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa said the event was to inform ‘foot soldiers’ on how to win more supporters for the party.
“You are to educate all the agents in each zone. We want to win massively and this is payback time for Tinubu. We shall mobilise everyone in our community. With our commitment, we can do it,” Obasa said.
Former deputy governor of Lagos State, Sarah Sosan, lamented the low turnout of voters in the state in the past but said the coming election is an opportunity for the state to record the highest number of votes.
Mrs. Adejoke Orelope Adefulire, who was also former governor in the state urged the ‘foot soldiers’ not to be angry when provoked but patiently canvas for supporters by explaining to them some of the giant strides of the party in the state.
