Women Rights Group bashed for ‘defending’ Fayemi wife’s silence over molestation of abducted ladies

A Civil Society Organisation (CSO), the Justice For All Nations (JFAN) has carpeted a group in Ekiti State, the Women Rights Advocacy Group, for allegedly defending wife of Governor Kayode Fayemi, Mrs.  Bisi Fayemi’s refusal to act on the abduction of two ladies in a hotel, in Ado-Ekiti, and their alleged molestation by thugs allegedly sponsored by the state government.

In a release issued, on Monday, and signed by its Coordinator, Dr. Dada Popoola, JFAN said that “apart from the owner of GNN Guest House, Ado-Ekiti, Hon. Adedayo Akinleye, Mr. Ariyo Afolabi and James David that were attacked and abducted on Saturday, October 24, 2020, hoodlums armed with pump action guns and other dangerous weapons invaded the hotel,  two ladies, Miss Ajiboko Bukola and Miss Filani Oyinkansola, who lodged in the hotel were also abducted with one of them putting on only towel and was not allowed to wear cloth even at the police station where they were dumped.

“One Dr.  Bola Ogundana, had reacted to our statement and attempted, albeit unsuccessfully, to defend Mrs. Fayemi and the Ekiti State government.”

Responding,  JFAN said, “Our attention has been drawn to the statement by a certain Dr. Bola Ogundana, on behalf of  Women Rights Advocacy Group, on the Saturday,  October 24, 2020, attack on a hotel in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State capital, by thugs allegedly sponsored by the state government.

“First, we are surprised that Dr.  Bola Ogundana turned herself to the spokesperson of the wife of the Governor of Ekiti State, Mrs. Bisi Fayemi,  as well as the state government itself,  by responding to our statement.

“By acting as a meddlesome interloper in a matter that has to do with Mrs. Fayemi and the government of her husband, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Dr. Bola Ogundana has giving her Women Rights Advocacy Group out as one of the Non Governmental Organisations (NGO) being funded by the Ekiti State Government and we will soon ask questions as to how much has been received from the State government by the group and others in its league.

“However, away from the unsolicited response by Dr Bola Ogundana and her group of meddlesome interlopers,  our position is clear, it is about the silence of Mrs Fayemi, a self-professed feminist and women rights champion, despite being aware of what was done to the duo of Miss Ajiboko Bukola and Miss Filani Oyinkansola, by the thugs who invaded GNN Guest House on the night of October 24, 2020.

“Mrs. Fayemi cannot claim not to be aware that the two ladies, who were among the lodgers at the hotel that night were abducted by the thugs, with one of them putting on only towel and was not allowed to wear cloth even at the police station where they were dumped.

“The governor’s wife can also not claim ignorance of the fact that the government of her husband is being accused of protecting the thugs by hiding them in the government house.

“Therefore,  the response by Dr Bola Ogundana of the Women Rights Advocacy Group is at best, the reaction of a political rights group that is trying to protect its pot of soup, at the expense of the people.

“This Dr Bola Ogundana was in Ekiti State when policemen openly fired gunshots at students of the Federal University of Oye Ekiti, including young girls, and killing some of the students, her Women Rights Advocacy Group said and did nothing.

“By saying that it ‘observe (sic) that the PDP ghost writers have been busy spewing out many lies in their attempt to discredit the government of Dr. John Kayode Fayemi and with the intention to create anarchy in the state,” the so-called Women Rights Advocacy Group gave itself out as a political group, that is just masquerading as an NGO.

“There are many like this group,  masquerading as NGO,  but are being used as conduit pipe to channel public fund into private pockets and we will soon beam our searchlights on them.

“For now, we are concerned about the plight of those two innocent young ladies who were molested just because they lodged in a hotel and it is not too late for Governor Fayemi’s wife to play her role as a women rights advocate and seek justice for the ladies by impressing it upon her husband to release the thugs to the police for investigation and prosecution.

“What we want to hear from tomorrow is what Mrs. Fayemi has done compensate the ladies and bring their assailants to justice,  not jaundiced defense from Dr Bola Ogundana and her group, whose interest is what gets into their bank accounts.”
