The President’s condemnation of the act is contained in a press statement made available to journalists through the Plateau State Chairperson, of the SWS, Mrs. Grace Gora Joseph.

Against the sad incident, the society therefore, called for justice for Mrs Owolabi and urged all individuals, human rights organisations,  stakeholders and right-thinking Nigerians to condemn the assault and unwarranted harassment from an officer who is enshrined by the law to protect and ensure the safety of Nigerian citizens.

The assault, according to the statement, was nothing but an abuse of power and a gross violation of fundamental human rights.

So, the SWS, therefore, called on all women associations, media organisations, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and well-meaning Nigerians to join in the call for justice for Mrs. Owolabi adding also that the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) and NSCDC should engage in a full-fledged and immediate investigation into the matter.
