Women and the Girl Child have been urged to speak out when confronted with any abuse of their rights.
A Non- Governmental Organisation, Standup for Women Society (SWS) which aims to protect the rights of Women and Girls in the society, made the call on the heels of this year’s observance of the United Nation’s International Day Against Violence on Women and the 15 days of Activism Against Violence on Women.
A statement signed by the National President (SWS) Barrister Deborah Ijadele – Adetona called on the menfolk to be more deliberate in protecting the rights of women as sisters, wives, mothers, colleagues and neighbours.
While urging Women not to stigmatize themselves in case of infringement on their human rights,(SWS) maintained that the place of Women as care-givers should be appreciated and protected by all irrespective of gender and status.
The story was made available to the press through a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the group, Bilkisu Ado Zango.
