Woman bathes husband with hot oil over disagreement in Rivers

Ekelediri Nwankwo, a resident of Okehi community in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, is now reeling in pain after his wife, Hope Nwala, allegedly bathed him with hot groundnut oil, following a disagreement.

The behaviour of the wife’s younger sister who lived with them was at the root of the problem.

Nwankwo on Wednesday told newsmen that his sister-in-law had been rude to him. Consequently, he decided to send her out of his house and gave her transport fare to return home when her attitude became intolerable.

Surprisingly, he added, his decision did not go down well with his wife, resulting in a heated argument between the couple and the vicious attack on him.

Nwankwo further disclosed that his wife began to behave suspiciously during her sister’s stay with them, adding that a certain man was noticed to be moving about with his wife and sister-in-law.

He said it was when he confronted his wife with his observations and demanded to know who the strange man was that she became violent and poured hot oil on him while he was asleep and also hit him with a hammer.

“I told my wife’s younger sister to leave my house because of the way she started dressing,” Nwankwo said.

“Her behaviour and the way she occupied my matrimonial bed even when I was around were unacceptable. And no young guy will tolerate such behavior. But my wife refused the younger sister to leave the house.

“I also saw my wife alone with one tall black guy in the shop I rented for her. Not that he is in for business. He followed my wife and her sister here and there.

Grace Iringe-Koko, the Rivers State Police Command spokesperson, confirmed the incident, adding that the suspect had fled.

”I can confirm the incident. The matter was incidented at the Igwuruta Police State Station. The woman has fled but we are on her train to ensure her arrest and make her face the law,” Iringe-Koko said.
