Wild search for remaining parts of body-less head of suspected cultist in Ilorin

Searches are ongoing for the remaining parts of a body-less head of a boy suspected to be student of Kwara State Polytechnic found in a black cellophane bag in Ilorin.

The head, later identified to be that of one ‘Olawale’ by his mother was said to have been dropped by the Unity (Folawiyo Road) roundabout not too far from both the Police Metro Area Command and ‘A’ Division in the Kwara State capital.

Olawake was believed to belong to a cult group who must have been gruesomely killed by a rival group, severed his head and took away the remaining parts of his body and dumped it overnight at the said location.

Recounting the events leading to the discovery by late Olawale’s mother in a very sad mood, the search for him had been mounted for several hours before his body-less head was later found.

Shedding tears profusely, the bereaved mother said her son left  home about 8:00p.m the previous night but when his return became unusually long, the family became apprehensive and began the search for him.

She said her son had of recent started going out by 8:00p.m daily and coming back late but he was unusually late on the fateful day only to discover that he had been killed in the terrible manner.

The deceased was aside being the student of the State Polytechnic, he was also known to be a phone seller and repairer at a popular phone market at ‘Challenge’ area in  Ilorin.

Her words, “Olawale left home past 8:00p.m, on Monday morning. But when he didn’t return on time which was unusual of him, I called his number several times but there was no response.

“We now decided to report at the ‘A’ Division police station and also go to his school and search hospitals if perhaps he had been involved in an accident.

“However, it was while searching for him that we saw some persons gathered around a spot along Unity Road taking pictures of something on the ground which later turned to be the severed head of my son”, the distraught mother narrated to journalists.

Meanwhile, the police has spread out its dragnets to track down the perpetrators of the heinous crime, according to the Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ajayi Okasanmi.

The Police Spokesperson had told newsmen that: “while responding to a distress call, a body-less head was recovered at Challenge area of Ilorin on Tuesday.

“Investigations so far confirmed it was an attack by cultists. Deceased was also a suspected cultist, an alleged student of Kwara Polytechnic”, Okasanmi added.
