A 27-year-old housewife, Fatima Dzuma is now in the police net for allegedly killing her husband, Baba Aliyu, 25, in Katcha Local Government Area of Niger State.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Niger Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun said in Minna on Monday that Dzuma was arrested between December 24, 2024 and January 4.
Abiodun explained that a preliminary investigation revealed that the couple had a misunderstanding on the fateful day.
He said that the wife used a pestle to strike her husband on the head during the altercation, causing his death.
The PPRO also stated that one Aminu Amale, 45, was arrested for allegedly demanding N9.5 million from a farmer in Mariga Local Government Area.
He added that three suspected armed robbers, Jibrin Ndako, 19, Haruna Abubakar, 20, and Aliyu Abdullahi, 18, were arrested in Minna for planning to burgle a provision store.
Abiodun said that the suspects were found with three cutlasses and an industrial iron cutter, and had planned to use them to break into the store.
He also stated that one Abubakar Sadiq was arrested for allegedly killing a motorcyclist, Abdulrahman Isah 20, and stealing his motorcycle.
The police spokesperson added that two receivers, Ibrahim Garba and Bala Usman, were arrested for allegedly buying the stolen motorcycle.
Abiodun stated that the suspects would be transferred to the state CID, Minna, for further investigation and prosecution.
He assured the public that the command would continue to ensure that crime and criminality were reduced to the barest minimum in the state. (NAN)
