The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kwara State chapter, has expressed its resolve to ensure that workers in the state are paid the N30,000 minimum wage.
There were high anxieties during the build-up to the last elections among the workforce in the state that a government that would implement the approved wage be voted into power.
NLC at the time caused candidates across political parties to pledge their readiness to pay the new wage if elected governors.
However, NLC Kwara State chairman, Alhaji Aliu Issa-Ore, during a chat with journalists, in Ilorin, the state capital, urged workers to keep hope alive, promising that the new minimum wage would be paid.
Issa-Ore said preparations were under way to ensure that workers are paid the new salaries.

The NLC chairman expressed confidence in the incumbent Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to make good his earlier promise to pay the minimum wage.
The governor he said, “has a listening ear as a compassionate leader who would do at all time, the wish of the people.”
Earlier, Comrade Issa-Ore had called on the government to disband all illegal transport associations in the country.
He argued that the spate of kidnapping and other forms of violent crimes in the country could be stemmed if proper coordination of transport operators were done by the government.
He expressed the views that one of the reasons why violent criminals often get away with their nefarious acts on the highway was because there are no records of their registrations to operate on the routes they ply.
“This is the danger that innocent passengers are exposed to and so, we plead with government to arrest this trend,” he added.
