Alhaji Haruna Saeed, Gubernatorial Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), on Tuesday said if elected governor in the 2019 polls, he would make the well-being of citizens of Kaduna State a priority.
Saeed stated this in Kaduna State at a forum tagged `Interactive Session with Gubernatorial Candidates’, organised by the Organised Private Sector and anchored by Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KADCCIMA).
“If elected as the governor of Kaduna state, I will ensure that every citizen is able to earn a living.
We hope to create an environment for a better well-being of the people, by providing an environment for investment to create employment opportunities for youth and women in the state.

Saeed, who was the Accountant General of the state for 11 years, said he would look at the state tax laws to ensure the best mechanisms were employed for a friendly tax collection.
He said that an SDP-led government in the state would look at the land use charge to ensure there was easy access to land and tax holidays to attract industries in all parts of the state.
The candidate said that his government would provide adequate security of lives and property as a basis for attracting investments to the state.
“My government will collaborate with neighboring State Governors and the Federal Government to put up a strategy that would address the security challenges affecting the states.”
He also promised to invest more in providing support to security agents, provide adequate road infrastructure, schools and other social services to make life better for people at the grassroots.

According to him this is as a way of reducing youth involvement in crime.
The SDP flag bearer said that his government would also collaborate with the Telecom Service Providers to support the State Government in addressing the current security challenges.
“My Government will be transparent and I will insist in transparency in all aspects of governance to make life better for the people.
“We had set a standard while we were in the civil service as account general of the state
“We had set a standard in financial reporting system of the state and tax collection method that had worked very well for the government at that time.
“So, by and large, l am Haruna Saeed, the one person you can trust. We have the capacity to make Kaduna state a better place to live.
” I lived all my live in this State, worked for 13 years in Government, with 11 years as Accountant General of the state,” Saeed said.
Earlier, Dr Muheeba Farida Dankaka, President, KADCCIMA said that the event was organized as part of their contribution to the growth and development of democracy.
Dankaka said the event was the second edition in the series, and was largely aimed at “developing a citizen charter to promote good governance.”
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the PDP governorship candidate, Alhaji Isah Ashiru and Governor Nasiru El-Rufai, of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) are expected to participate in subsequent sessions. (NAN)
