We look forward to peaceful inauguration in Ogun-Transition C’ttee

Mrs. Abimbola Lanre – Balogun , Chairman,  Sub-Committee on Transportation for Transition Committee of Ogun State governor – elect,  Dapo Abiodun, on Tuesday said that the state was looking forward to a  peaceful inauguration ceremony on May 29.

Lanre – Balogun spoke in Ogere, Ikenne Local Government Area of the state, during a peace meeting between the committee and the leadership of all transport unions ahead of the May 29 inauguration ceremony.

She, however, reaffirmed that the governor – elect had not endorsed anyone as chairman of any transport union in the state.

According to her, there are constitutions guiding all the transport unions including their terms of existence.

The committee chairman added that the incoming governor would look at every issue concerning the unions in its entirety and come out with his own decision.

“The governor has not endorsed anybody as chairman of any union; Ogun state is not banana republic, there is constitution guiding all these unions and they have their terms of existence.

“We have seen the constitution of all the unions. We are going to wait for the governor to look at it holistically and make his own decision,” she said.

Lanre – Balogun said that it was important to call the peace meeting between the transport unions and the factions so that they come together and make the inauguration peaceful.

“One of our aims is to make sure there is no bloodshed because we found out that if there is going to be trouble, it starts from the union and we want to nip it in the bud before it starts.

“We don’t want fight; we are going to hold you leaders responsible if there is breach of peace.

“That’s why this committee has called the transport unions and we want to tell them that for that day there will be adequate security and the governor -elect will ensure that lives and properties of citizens are well protected,” she said.
