Volleyball Division 2 League kicks off May 2

League Management Committee of Nigeria Volleyball Federation has announced that the 2019 Division 2 League will now hold from May 2- 12, 2019 in Ogun State.

The league was earlier scheduled for March 27- April 7 but was moved forward because of continental championships which the country is hosting.

Technical Director of the Federation, Martins Melandi, said  that the decision to move the league forward was to avoid clash of interest during the continental championships coming up later this month.

“We moved the division 2 league forward because of the Zone 3 African Club Championship and the African Senior beach Volleyball championship to be hosted by the country in this month  and we have to respect the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVF) calendar.

“In taking the decision, we also have to take into cognizance the extension of registration of clubs for the championship which was fixed for March 31, 2019 and I hope it will enable participating clubs prepare adequately for the tournament”, he said.

He announced that all clubs that regularized their registration before the March 31 registration deadline have been notified of the new date even as he assured that the Federation is poised to organize a successful league.

“As we speak, the League management committee has notified all clubs who registered for the competition about the new date and the committee is working round the clock to ensure a successful league everyone will be proud of.

“You  aware we’ ve been doing it before and this year’s edition won’t be an exemption, rather it will witness a great improvement over previous editions”, he stressed.

On preparedness of Ogun State to host a successful league, he assured that all logistics have been put on ground by the host state noting that the teams will have a fun filled tournament.

“Our technical committee has inspected the venue of the league and gave the host, Ogun pass mark. What this means is that the state is ready and all facilities are World class and I can assure all the teams that they are going to have good time in Ogun State”, he concluded.
