Video footage has emerged of hoodlums smashing a traffic police officer’s head with a bottle in Lagos.
The less than one minute video was posted on social media by onlookers who filmed the incident.
The officer had climbed the back of a truck in an apparent move to arrest the driver and its occupants. A hoodlum, holding a bottle, is seen asking the officer to get down from the truck. When the officer refused, the unidentified hoodlum smashed a bottle on his head.
The officer could be seen writhing in pain and he was dragged off the truck by the thugs.
In the background, part of the crowd was heard telling the hoodlum to break the bottle on the head of the officer while others told the officers to get down from the truck.
It is not known where the incident was filmed.
The video has since been viewed thousands of times.

Last week, a viral video emerged of a motorist and a passenger assaulting police officers of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) at Four Points in Lagos.
One of the officers, a superintendent of Police, Sunday Erhabor was hailed for maintaining his cool in the face of provocations by the motorist, Victor Ehbomenyen who was later arrested while his accomplice was declared wanted.
Erhabor was commended by many including former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar for displaying exceptional professionalism. He was also honoured by the Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
