VC, AE- FUNAI commissions medical students’ male hostel

The Vice-Chancellor, Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu Alike, Ebonyi State, Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba, has commissioned the new medical students’ male hostel.

The facility, which was commissioned recently,  is an extension of Prof Nwajiuba’s commitment to ensure that medical students of the university have suitable living place in the campus and in fulfillment of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) regulations on medical students hostel accommodation.

The building project was commenced and was ready for commissioning on record time, especially as the 2019/2020 session begins first week in October, 2019. It was funded by AE-FUNAI Medical Students Parents Forum, in support of the unique initiative and the ‘all hands on deck’ philosophy of the vice-chancellor.

While commissioning the hostel, Professor Nwajiuba stated that considering his various achievements since assumption of office, he should have been resting by now, but that he cannot stop working because it is a mission from God, which he must accomplish.

He also disclosed that he still had one more hostel and an administrative block building projects, for AE-FUNAI Teaching Hospital and one other female medical students hostel to build, so that “when I’m done, it will be said that a child of God passed through AE- FUNAI”.

Speaking further, Professor Nwajiuba said that AE-FUNAI remained the first university in the area that got approval to start medicine with its first application. This he said was a clear evidence of the uniqueness of AE-FUNAI and that such feat should be applauded and sustained by putting more hands on deck.

Speaking, the chairman of AE-FUNAI General Parents Forum, Engr. Chidi Onwe Ogah, who stood in for Chief Edward Ngene, Chairman of Medical Students Parents Forum, while cutting the tape to open the hostel, prayed that AE-FUNAI medical students would be distinguished, while their stay in the building would bring more wisdom and understanding to them, and knowledge to perform exceptionally in their academic pursuit.
