US: Harris’s presidential candidacy get more backers

More prominent Democratic politicians continue to endorse Kamala Harris’s presidential bid after President Joe Biden dropped out of the US election slated for November.

Backers of tbe vice president ahead of next month’s democratic congress include Illinois Governor JB Pritzker; Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

Others are Congressman Adam Schiff of California and US Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois

“Vice President Harris has my full support,” Whitmer said in a statement. “So Michigan, let’s get to work. We cannot let Donald Trump anywhere near the White House.”

Vice President Harris is now viewed as a frontrunner in the presidential race.

In a new statement, the Harris Campaign accused the former president Donald Trump of “laying the groundwork to avoid debating her”

should she be selected as the 2024 Democratic presidential candidate.

On his Truth social platform on Sunday Trump wrote that he believes the next debate – set for September – “with whomever the Radical Left Democrats choose, should be held on FoxNews, rather than very biased ABC”.

The Harris campaign also made a distinction between Harris and Trump, saying in its statement that “Kamala Harris stands up to fraudsters and criminals” while “Trump is a convicted felon”.

Trump is the first former US president ever convicted of a crime after being found guilty in a New York hush-money case.
