Contrary to reports that acting of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has been arrested by Department of State Services (DSS) operatives, The Nigerian Xpress gathered that Magu is not in DSS custody.
Rather, he was invited to face a panel at the Aso Rock Villa.
He was still there as at press time.
Although the DSS had severally refused to clear Magu for confirmation as substantive chairman of the EFCC, he is believed to have been backed by the then Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari.
With the death of Kyari, however, it would appear the push to kick out Magu has resumed in earnest, beginning with the shocking memo recently authored by the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami SAN who is the supervising minister of the EFCC.
