Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State emerged, on Wednesday, as the new chairman of the Nigerian Governor Forum.
His tenure is from June 2019-2021.
He was elected through consensus.
It was gathered that Governor Fayemi was nominated by Governor, Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State and was seconded by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State.
Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, is the new deputy chairman of the Forum.

He was nominated by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State and seconded by Governor Romiti Akeredolu of Ondo State.
The outgoing NGF chairman and Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, made the announcement, on Wednesday, after two hours of meeting.
Governor Fayemi said he and his deputy were happy by their emergence via consensus.
He promised to build on the success Forum that started from Abdullahi Adamu of Nasarawa State.
He said they would build on the strong partnership with the Federal Government as led by Governor Yari.
He said they would represent Nigeria, regardless of party affiliations and ensure the partnership with the federal government, legislature and development partners would be in the part interest of all.
