Umahi swears-in 50 Development Center Coordinators/62 TAs, urges them to tackle out-of- school children scourge

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has sworn- in 50 Coordinators to take charge of Development Centers across the state, with a charge to them to tackle headlong the menace of out-of- school-children.
In a similar vein, Umahi inaugurated 62 Assistants comprising Executive Assistants, Senior Technical Assistants and Technical Assistants to the Governor.
Speaking after administering the oath of office on the coordinators at the Akanu -Ibiam International Conference Center Abakaliki the capital city on Friday, Umahi enjoined them to ensure that they adopt measures that would eliminate the menace of out-of- school children in their localities.
Umahi noted that the appointment of the coordinators were carried out to ensure effective governance at the grassroots.

He charged them to ensure that they put in measures that would stamp out the menace of out- of – school children in their localities.
“Tackling the menace of out- of – school children is important, if you do wayo. It is at your own risk”.
The State Chief Executive charged the appointees to be self disciplined, and exhibit passion for the jobs and the electorates they govern.
“The first task for you is self discipline, any body not disciplined must be a con man or woman, be content with your salary, have faith that you will be successful,” he admonished.
“Visit the widows, the fatherless, show kindness to people, let the passion of the people occupy your mind” he emphasised.
Governor Umahi admonished the coordinators to create wealth insisting that payment of their salaries would take effect from November 1st 2019.

“It is my sincere hope that the coordinators would deliver on their mandate of stepping down the policies and programmes of the state government to the hinterlands”.

Umahi said that his administration would initiate joint projects between the coordinators of the Development Centers and the Chairmen of Local Government Areas.
” The Chairmen of the 13 Local Government Councils must have joint projects with the coordinators ” he stated.
The State Chief Executive reiterated that the policies and programmes of his administration were geared towards delivering democratic dividends to the people .
It would be recalled that Governor Umahi had last month sworn – in the first batch of 13 coordinators who were screened by lawmakers of the State House of Assembly.
The swearing in ceremony of the last batch of 50 coordinators marks the climax of the institution of democratic governance at the grassroots.
