The police in Lagos have successfully secured the remand of two teachers in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling a five-year-old pupil.

An Ikeja Magistrates Court yesterday ordered the remand of the accused, Olajide Babatunde and Samson Banjoko, residents of Magodo Phase II  and Olowora, Berger, Lagos, respectively.

Magistrate M. O. Tanimola gave the order after listening to a motion by the police prosecutor, ASP Victor Eruada, that the matter is referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

The prosecutor had told the court that the accused had on December 15 last year lured the pupil into an empty classroom on the school premises at Magodo Phase 1, Isheri, Lagos, and defiled her, contrary to Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.

However, adjourning the case till January 29, 2021, the magistrate did not take the accused’s plea but also instructed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice.
