Two feared dead as 20-ft container falls on bus in Lagos

Two persons have reportedly died in an accident when a 20-feet container fell on a commercial bus at Ilasamaja on the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, wounding three others.

According to the Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA),  Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, who confirmed the tragic incident, the corpses of the dead and injured persons had been evacuated to Isolo General Hospital by operatives of LASEMA.

He added that the dead were a man and woman and explained that the accident occurred at about 7p.m when a truck, with registration number SGM 715 XA, which was conveying a 20-ft container had a collision with a commercial bus that was discharging passengers under the bridge at Ilasamaja, resulting in the instant death of two passengers.

Oke-Osanyintolu further disclosed that the LASEMA’’s Responder  rescued three other injured passengers, including the bus driver and rushed them to Isolo General Hospital.

According to him, “Another three passengers escaped unhurt. The dead and the injured have been transferred to Isolo General Hospital by LASEMA Responder.”
