Aviashima Toom, Makurdi
Benue State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mr. Joshua Shicha, weekend said that two corps members of the 2018 Batch ‘A’ have been remobilised.
Speaking during the Passing Out Parade (POP), in Makurdi, the state capital, Schicha said that the affected corps members, who he declined to name, were remobilised on the grounds of absconding their duty posts.
He explained that the corps members were not seen at their places of primary assignment in three months.
According to him, such an act is against NYSC rules and regulations.
He also said 950 corps members of the 2018 Batch ‘A’ in the state successfully completed their service year and passed out.

He added that another corps member of the batch, Ruth Andrew (BN/18A/1633), got a recommendation letter for her sensitisation and awareness campaign on drug abuse.
Shicha said, ”A circular came from the headquarters that it (passing-out ceremony) should be a low-key affair.
It is not only in Benue. For some years,we
have been observing (POP) low-key. It is not the decision of NYSC Benue State but that of the management of the national headquarters. No reason was given.
”Two corps members were remobilised in the state. Any corps member who leaves the place of his or her primary assignment for a period of three months automatically repeats the service year.
“The corps members were not found at their various places of assignment within a period of three months.
“So, we communicated to the National Directorate at National Headquarters concerning this case of abscondment and we were directed from Abuja that they should be remobilised.”
