Troops raid terrorists den in Anambra, 5 die in gun duel
No fewer than five persons were reportedly killed when on Tuesday security operatives and gunmen engaged each other in a gun battle in Anambra.
The Anambra Joint Security Force, JSF, had raided two camps belonging to the gunmen in Aguluezechukwu, Aguata council area and Ogboji, Orumba South council area, respectively.
Some items, such as locally made rocket launchers, charms, police uniforms among others were recovered during the raid.
Ikenga Tochukwu, the Anambra police spokesman, confirmed the incident but did not disclose the casualty figures. However, it was gathered that four gunmen and a police operative died during the shootout.
The State Police Command in a statement in Awka on Wednesday explained that it had extended the hunt for the gunmen to Obofia Forest, Aguluezechukwu and Ogboji areas.
