Tribunal dismisses petition challenging Buhari’s victory

By Daniel Anokwuru

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has dismissed the Petition filled in by The Coalition for Change (C4C), and its presidential candidate, Geff Chizee Ojinika, challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari, in the last presidential election.

The petitioners had prayed for the cancellation of the election, and sought for the conduct of fresh presidential election owing to the misrepresentation of its acronym.

INEC had printed CC as the party’s acronym, instead of C4C, which they claimed robbed them of many votes.

According to the Petitioners’ lawyer, Obed Agu, he said, on Monday, that the Petitioners were no longer interested in prosecuting the case.

The Tribunal, headed by Justice Mohammed Lawal Garba, proceeded in dismissing the petition, while adjourning till Tuesday, for hearing of all pending motions.
