Sesan Adelabu, a popular socialite and businessman in Ondo State, has allegedly taken his own life after killing his wife in Akure, the state capital.

Adelabu, sources say, owned a chain of businesses, including petrol stations in Akure.

Although not much information is available about the incident, it was rumoured that the woman was caught having amorous affair with one of her husband’s security guards.

The enraged husband was said to have killed her with a machete before committing suicide by ingesting sniper, an insecticide inside the toilet.

The remains of the woman were found on their matrimonial bed, while the socialite was found dead inside his toilet. Both have been deposited at the Akure General Hospital.

Funmi Odunlami, the state police spokesperson, confirmed the incident, saying the socialite murdered his wife and thereafter committed suicide by drinking sniper.

However, she added that police detectives had commenced further investigation into the matter.
