The Lagos State Government has introduced an On-Street parking scheme to address incessant traffic jams in the state.
While speaking at the maiden edition of the Lagos State Parking Authority, LASPA, Stakeholders Forum held on Wednesday at Lagos Marriott Hotel, Ikeja, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the scheme would regulate “the existing roadside parking and checkmate haphazard parking in line with global best practices.’
He said some roads within the state have been identified to be used for the scheme where additional parking spaces would be created especially in areas with high parking traffic.

The General Manager, Lagos State Parking Authority, Adebisi said the influx of people into the state has created an increase in parking needs in the state.
She further said that over 1.2 million registered vehicles ply Lagos roads adding that out of 13 million vehicles on Nigeria roads, more than 2 million are in Lagos and over 18,000 vehicles registered in Lagos in January alone.
