The Tiv Youth Council in Benue State, has urged Nigerians to re-elect President Muhammadu Buhari in the February 23, poll to enable him consolidate on his achievements in office.
Mr Mike Msuaan, National President of the council, made the call on Tuesday in Makurdi while briefing newsmen.
“After an appraisal of the performance of President Buhari in office, we found him to have met the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians.
“We have mandated our coordinators in all the 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state to immediately begin massive mobilisation for the re-election of president Buhari in Saturday’s poll,” he said.
Msuaan recalled that during President Buhari’s inaugural speech in May 2015, he promised Nigerians to run an effective government and that is what he is doing.

“He also promised to fight corruption and insecurity head on, the results are there for everyone to see.
“A lot of money was recovered and for the first time in the history of Nigeria, high profile corruption cases were completed, two former governors are presently in prison, serving various jail terms for corrupt practice.
“Security agencies have been boosted with procurement of latest arms and ammunition.
“Much success is recorded in the fight against Boko Haram, armed herdsmen, kidnappers and other criminals,” he said.
Msuaan said the president Buhari led administration has also done well in the area of infrastructural development.
“The present government has done well in the area of road construction, aviation, railway resuscitation, and youth empowerment especially through the N-Power initiative and the agricultural revolution.
“Nigeria’s international reputation has been strengthened as well,” he said.
He said the council had mandated its members to vote out selfish and corrupt politicians from office.
“We wish to call on all Nigerians to be our brother’s keepers and avoid making inflammatory speech that will put our country into flames.
“The Tiv Youth Council is determined to promote good governance and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians. We shall always rise in defence of the truth and condemn any act of injustice,” he said. (NAN)
