President Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday evening, met with Senate President Godswill Akpabio at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa over the suspension of Sen. Abdul Ningi.
Sen. Ningi was suspended by the Senate, on Tuesday, during plenary session for accusing Akpabio of padding the 2024 budget with N3 trillion.
The senator, who represents Bauchi Central, in the National Assembly made the claims while granting an interview with the BBC Hausa Service, noted that the National Assembly debated and passed N25 trillion as 2024 budget and not the N28.7 trillion that is being implemented by the Federal Government.

The allegations had sparked wide reaction from different quarters with many Nigerians calling on the federal government to investigate the matter.
Reacting, Akpabio said that the allegation that the 2024 Budget was padded with an additional N3.7 trillion has damaged the integrity of the Senate Chamber.
He said Sen. Ningi’s false allegations have done irreparable damage to the reputation of the Senate.
“Nigerians are bashing the Senate, many Nigerians would never in future come back to respect this chamber. So, the integrity of the Senate has been damaged,” Akpabio lamented.
