A teenager, David Jonah has been jailed for 30 days for stealing a he-goat.
A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court pronounced the verdict on Jonah on Wednesday after the police charged him with two counts of trepass and stealing.
Jonah pleaded guilty and begged the court for leniency.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, however, gave the convict an option of N10,000 fine and warned him to desist from crime.
Emmanuel further advised the convict to focus on his studies or learn a trade, as the court will not be lenient with him next time.
Earlier, the Prosecution, Inspector Chidi Leo, told the court that one Samson John reported the matter at the station on Nov. 29.
According to Leo, the defendant went into the complainant’s compound while he was at the farm and stole his he-goat worth N65,000.
He said the defendant was caught by a neighbour who saw him coming out of the compound with the goat.
Leo said the offence contravened the provisions of Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
