The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has explained that a technical glitch caused the shutdown of the registration portal for Batch B prospective national youth corps members.
Eddy Megwa, its Director of Information in a statement on Tuesday said the NYSC portal was closed when it reached the maximum number of registrations for the incoming batch.
He assured that the portal would be reopened for the Batch B Stream II on a date to be announced later while apologising to prospective corps members who could not register before the portal was shut down.
The statement described as fake a press release circulating online, claiming that the registration deadline had been extended and warmed that any criminally-minded individual caught spreading false information about NYSC operations would be prosecuted.
“Registration by prospective corps members continued until the maximum number required for the incoming batch was reached, in line with the carrying capacity of the 37 NYSC Orientation Camps nationwide.
“The portal was subsequently shut down accordingly.
“We apologise to prospective corps members who could not register before the portal was shut down.
“The portal will reopen for 2024 Batch B Stream II on a date to be announced later.
“Online reporters and bloggers are please expected to confirm the authenticity of issues with NYSC before publishing.”
