Tanko Yakasai disagrees with Obasanjo, says ‘You’re just wasting your vote, 2023 contest is race between two contenders’
Elder statesman, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, has urged Nigerian electorate to shun the advise given to them by former President Olusegun Obasanjo to cast their ballot for Presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, in the 2023 election.
Alhaji Yakasai believed that anyone who followed Chief Obasanjo’s advice is just wasting his vote, adding that the 2023 contest is a race between two top contenders, which he did not mention.
Recall that Chef Obasanjo had, on New Year’s day, in a open letter, declared support for Mr. Obi to win the 2023 presidential election.

In the open letter, Chief Obasanjo urged young Nigerians to exercise their right, take active part in the 2023 elections and defend their votes
However, in a statement released by Alhaji Yakasai said, “Obj (Obasanjo)’s endorsement is insignificant. The 2023 contest is a race between two top contenders, and even the gap between the major contender is so wide that no one will waste his or her vote on a contestant that is far behind these big two.
“And whoever chooses to elect somebody that has no significance in the race knows too well he or she has wasted his or her vote,” the elder statesman said.
