The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Federal SARS, Kola Okunola, has been taken hostage by thugs suspected to be working for a former governor and a member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly.
Secretary to the Bayelsa State Government, Kemela Okara, a lawyer, alleged that the thugs led by the lawmaker from Brass, who is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and backed by the military were mounting pressure on the deputy commissioner of police to accept unauthentic results of the presidential and National Assembly elections from Brass.
He added that the deputy commissioner of police was humiliated following his refusal to sign the illegal results.
The DCP was further said to have been left to suffer in the hands of the party thugs after he refused to collude with a Major of the Nigerian Army and his men on the unauthentic results.
According to Okara, the DCP who insisted on submitting the right results to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was token hostage in the waters and stripped naked by the thugs.
The SSG said the situation had caused serious tension in Brass, lamenting that the Army appeared to have taken charge of collation of election results in Brass.
