The minister of state for petroleum (Oil), Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, has emphasized that the success of the transformative policies in the oil sector depends significantly on the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria’s (PETROAN’s) role across the nation and beyond.
Lokpobiri made the remark when he hosted a delegation from PETROAN who expressed their support for the ongoing reforms and transformation in the oil sector.
He noted that success of these transformative policies depends significantly on PETROAN’s role across the nation and beyond.
“What is petroleum prosperity if the grassroots do not feel the impact of reforms?”
“This fundamental question underscores President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s decisive action in enforcing full deregulation of the downstream sector”, noted the Petroleum minister .
Lokpobiri added that PETROAN’s commitment and efficiency in retail distribution remain vital to ensuring that deregulation translates into real benefits for the people.
He commended PETROAN for its services to the nation and reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to continued partnership, sustaining efforts that guarantee Nigerians to fully enjoy the advantages of a deregulated downstream sector.
In another development, Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri also received the organizers of the OTL African Downstream Week, led by Mrs. Joyce Akabogu.
Lokpobiri disclosed that discussions with the group were insightful, focusing on the critical role of the downstream sector in shaping Africa’s oil and gas industry.
In a statement from Nneamaka Okafor, special Assistant on Media and Publicity, said Lokpobiri
commended the team for their initiative and dedication to driving value within the sector.
“Their efforts in fostering collaboration, innovation, and knowledge-sharing are essential for sustainable growth.
“While the upstream sector is vital for the industry’s overall success, the downstream sector is where the impact is most directly felt by the people” he stated , and stressed that “it is, therefore, imperative that we continue to prioritize efficiency, transparency, and value creation to ensure broad-based benefits”.
