Proprietor of CEDEC International Schools Lagos, Dr (Mrs) Ijeoma Pauline Unachukwu has charged the graduating students of the School to always strive for excellence as they complete their six years academic course.
Unachukwu who was speaking at the graduation/ prize giving ceremony of the school held recently in Lagos, said she is confident that the sky will not be the limit of the graduating students considering the six years of academic drilling, moulding, nurturing, learning and painstaking journey in the secondary school.
Also speaking at the event, the Principal of the school, Mrs Janefrances O. Umegakwe advised the graduands to be good ambassadors of their families, the school and the nation as they enter another phase of life.
Mrs Umegakwe reminded the graduands to always imbibe the core values of the school which include fear of God, hard work, humility, punctuality and strive for excellence anywhere to go.
She said that the graduating class of 2019 fondly called the “Giant of Tomorrow” has recorded success in this academic session adding that the school won the star prices for Spelling Bee Competition organised by the Association of Private Educators (APE), and essay competition organized by Society for Environmental Toxicology and Pollution Mitigation among other competitions.
She commended the parents, management, and staff of the school for their support.
Also speaking on the theme “Giant of Tomorrow” the officiating minister pastor Eko Michael and the chairman of the occasion Mr Idonije reminded the graduating students that giant is not by size but by achievement and accomplishment.
The duo advised the granduands to be focused, dedicated and shun bad friends. “Your parents have invested much by training you, they expect returns. Be careful of the people you associate with as you aspire to go to higher level in your academic pursuit. Giants excel against all odds, you are the giants of tomorrow, and tomorrow begins today” they stressed.
Awards were given to graduands who distinguished themselves. The school’s prestigious award for the Best well behaved students was bagged by Miss Success Ikechukwu, while Chinemerem Obi, Somtochukwu Kanife, Udochukwu Okpa bagged Esther Award, Gideon Award and Daniel Award respectively.
Also some parents were honoured with long standing awards during the occasion. They include Mr & Mrs Okemezim, Mr & Mrs Mbachu, Mr & Mrs Okoroafor among others.
In a related development, the Head Teacher of CEDEC International Primary School Lagos, Mrs Uche Oyedun has urged the graduating pupils of the school to be of good character stressing that character and reputation are as important as academic success.
Mrs Oyedun who was speaking at the graduation /prize giving ceremony of the primary six pupils, also advised the graduands to be mindful of the friends they choose as they enter into secondary school.
According to her, “you have to choose your friends carefully at secondary school, the friends you choose will have a lot of influence on your character and reputation.”
Mrs Oyedun also urged parents to create time for their children. “This is a time to share your values and hear your child’s opinion,” she emphasized.
She commended the teachers and staff of the school for their hard work and support.
Also speaking on the theme: “Relentless Strides,” Pastor Theophilus Ugochukwu admonishes the graduating pupils to be Relentless in their academic pursuit.
According to him, all great achievers are Relentless and persistent in all their endeavours.
He reminded the pupils of the pedigree set up by the school and urged them not to let it go down. Also speaking at the event, the chairman of the occasion Mr Gregory Roberts advised the graduating pupils to be good ambassadors of their families and the school.
The event witnessed drama and choir presentations, inspirational talks and debate.
