The fact of the seemingly embarrassing attempt by DSS to re arrest last Friday the Publisher of Sahara Reporters within the Federal High Court Abuja premises must be carefully studied to prevent false judgment passing by the reasonable good people and friends of this country.
It becomes obvious that when that Federal High Court Abuja presided that day by Hon Justice Ojukwu had adjourned the case for the day till February 2020 that Hon Justice Ojukwu court had ceased having jurisdiction on that matter. Yoruba have a say that an ‘Alangba ori esu lonwa wahala fun enito ba so oko lai ronu jinle. Ti oko ko ba ba alangba sugbon to ba ba esu wahala yio bere larin esu ati enito ba so oko’ Literarily meaning that care must be taken by one feeling annoyed against another person to be prevented from carelessly and unreasonably assaulting a third person not at all involved in the cause of action.

That the Sowore the cat knew that the mouse DSS was after him was never in doubt judging by ever credible statement of Mr. Femi Falana SAN that “You will recall that I did inform the court that the order for their release was obeyed yesterday and that there were new moves to file a new charge”It becomes apt to mention that Omoyele Sowore and his lawyer Falana were aware of the attempt by DSS to re-arrest him possibly after the Court of Hon Justice Ojuwku had adjourned sitting on the matter last Friday.
However sensing danger of being rearrested Sowore ran back inside the court about the time it was to commence proceeding on another case before her. This is the area in need of careful examination by the discerning minds and in particular the legal brains that has Sowore the right to run back inside the court after having had his matter adjourned and when Hon. Justice Ojukwu was about starting trial of another case? One cannot deny the fact that Omoyele Sowore having spent 124 days in the custody of the DSS must have known the intension of those who held him in detention culminating in the denial of offers made to him that warranted “his refusal to accept some offers that were allegedly extended to him in detention” What those offers are only Omoyele knows.
However it becomes pertinent for one to suggest to both warring parties of Omoyele Sowore and DSS to please toy the line of peace and allow a peaceful way out of the imbroglio confronting the peace of this country. The reality of this issue must be found in the fact that the government can never be a looser in a matter of this sort.
The memory of our highly beloved late Chief M.K.O Abiola must be kept in our minds that the best solution to an impasse of this type is peaceful dialogue. This is calling on all well meaning leaders of thought of this country and particularly the Yoruba kingdom to please quickly wade into the matter before regrets set in
