Simon Ekpa, 4 others arrested in Finland over terrorist crimes 

 

 

The Finnish authorities on Thursday arrested Simon Ekpa, the self-acclaimed Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government In-Exile.

 

Ekpa and four others were arrested in Finland over alleged involvement in terror-related offences.

 

The Finnish-Nigerian was subsequently remanded in prison by the Päijät-Häme District Court on suspicion of public incitement and for allegedly spreading terrorist propaganda on social media.

 

His arrest was confirmed by the Central Criminal Police in Finland confirmed in a statement on its website on Thursday, which also disclosed the arrest of four other persons on suspicion of involvement with terrorist activities.

The main suspect, the police said, was arrested “on suspicion of public incitement to commit a crime with terrorist intent”, while the other four persons were arrested “for financing a terrorist crime”.

 

“Claims will be heard in Päijät-Häme district court today, November 21″, the statement added.

 

According to reports, the alleged offence dates back to 2021 in Lahti municipality, Finland.

 

There have been calls for Ekpa’s arrest, due to his outbursts that instigate violence in the South-east.

 

Ekpa has been accused of being responsible for the spiralling bloodletting in the region and the brutal enforcement of the Sit-At-Home order he imposed on the area.
