Jigawa State residents are still reeling in shock, as 37-year-old Munkaila Ahmadu allegedly killed his own parents.
The incident occured in Zarada Sabuwa village, Gagarawa Local Government Area of the state when the suspect on Thursday went beserk and clubbed his father, who is the village head, Ahmad Muhammad, and his mother, Hauwa Ahmadu, to death with a pestle.
According to the spokesman of the Jigawa State police Command, Lawan Adam, the deceased husband and wife were aged 70 and 60 years, respectively.
Adam also disclosed that suspect wounded two other people in the community, identified as 50-year-old Hakalima Ahmadu, and 65-year-old Kailu Badugu.

The police are investigating the the matter to ascertain the motive behind the heinous act.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that Ahmad Muhammad and Hauwa Ahmadu happened to be the biological parents of the suspect,” the police spokesman added.
“The Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Police Command, Aliyu Tafida, directed that the case should be transferred to the criminal investigation department immediately for discreet investigation and possible prosecution of the culprit.”
