Shameful as police nab 4 cops for kidnapping hotel worker in Rivers

Four police operatives are now cooling their heels in the detention of the Rivers State Police Command for allegedly kidnapping a hotel worker in Port Harcourt and demanded a ₦1million ransom.

It was gathered that the kidnapped victim, who was identified as Darlington was last Friday allegedly picked up by the police officers in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state on his way to work.

However, having searched and found nothing incriminating on the victim, and identifying his place of work, the policemen were said to have decided to kidnap him and threatened to kill him as they had done to some other victims who refused to cooperate with them in the past.

They had also threatened to throw his body into the Choba River after killing him and tagging him a kidnapper.

Furthermore, they were accused of tying the man inside a vehicle and patrolled with him before arriving at a bush around Aluu in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.

As God would have it, the suspects met their waterloo when the matter was reported to the Divisional Police Officer, who then started negotiating the payment of ransom with the rogue officers disguising as Darlington’s father.

However, they were arrested and disarmed by the DPO and his team after managing to convince them to meet him at a certain location to collect he will pay them the N1million ransom.

According to the state Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, who confirmed the arrest of the officers at an event in Port Harcourt: “The officers are there. We are not hiding anything and when the complaints come, we will give you further details on what we have done about it,” he said.
