Shake-up in Air Force, Op. LAFIYA DOLE commander replaced

The Nigerian Air Force has announced the appointment of Air Commodore Precious Amadi, as the new Commander of Air Task Force commanD of Operation LAFIYA DOLE.

LAFIYA DOLE is the military operation set up to fight Boko Haram insurgents in the north-east.

NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Ibikunle Daramola, made this known in a statement in Abuja, on Wednesday.

He said the force appointed new branch chiefs and redeployed two air officers commanding (AOCs) as well as other senior officers.

Daramola said all the appointments will take effect from July 19, 2019.

He said the newly appointed branch chiefs include Napoleon Bali, an air vice marshal and a former air officer commanding (AOC), special operations command (SOC), who is now the chief of policy and plans (COPP) at NAF headquarters; and Paul Dimfwina, an air vice marshal, is now the chief of communication information systems (CCIS) at NAF headquarters.

“The new AOCs include the former Commander Air Task Force (ATF), Operation Lafiya Dole, AVM James Gwani who has been moved to SOC, Bauchi as AOC and AVM Charles Ohwo appointed as AOC Tactical Air Command (TAC), Makurdi,” the statement read.

Other officers redeployed are John Baba, an air vice marshal, now chairman, air expo and international liaison secretariat; Idi Lubo, an air vice marshal, npw director of operations at NAF headquarters; Christopher Umolu, an air vice marshal, as coordinator project implementation and monitoring team at NAF headquarters; and Maxwell Nnaji, an air vice marshal, now director of safety manual at defence headquarters.
