Over 100 buildings were reportedly destroyed in the early hours of Saturday as a result of explosion that rocked Eleyowo, Akure, along Owo-Akure, Ondo State.
Residents said they were roused from sleep by an unusual loud bang at about 1am.

A very popular church in Akure, Possibility Ground Ministry, a full boarding school, Aina Awawul Secondary School, and a filling station were among the several buildings affected by the explosion.
Also, the highway was cut in two, leaving hundreds of travellers stranded.
Security operatives are already at the scene of the incident to ascertain what went wrong.
