The Senate has confirmed Ahmed Kuru as the Managing Director of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) for a second term in office.
Kuru’s nomination was confirmed after a report was presented by Sen. Uba Sani, chairman of the Committee on Banking, Insurance and other financial institutions, on Wednesday, in plenary.
Recall that last December, President Muhammadu Buhari had reappointed Kuru for a final term of five years.
The president had based his request on section 10(1) of AMCON act of 2010.
While presenting his report, Sani said Kuru met all the requirements expected of him.
Thereafter, Kuru’s nomination was put to a voice vote by Senate President Ahmad Lawan and it was unanimously adopted by the senators.
Also, Eberechukwu Uneze and Aminu Ismail were confirmed as Executive Directors in AMCON.
The senators also confirmed Bello Hassan and Mustapha Ibrahim as Managing Director and Executive Director of Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).
