Scores of Boko Haram terrorists were said to have been killed in the airstrikes conducted last Thursday, in Borno state.
Major General John Enenche, Coordinator of Defence Media Operations, (CDMO), said, on Sunday, in an operational update that troops also did damage to the structures of the terrorist group.
He said that the airstrikes were executed by the Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE, as part of its air campaign against the Boko Haram Terrorists in the North East of the Country.
The CDMO said the airstrikes were “executed on 10 December 2020 at Njimia on the fringes of the Sambisa Forest in Borno State.
“The attack, which resulted in the neutralization of several BHTs, as well as damage to their structures, was conducted after a series of aerial surveillance missions showed an uptick of activities in the settlement.
“Consequently, the ATF dispatched an appropriate force package of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets and helicopter gunships to engage the location.
“The NAF attack aircraft delivered accurate hits in the target area resulting in the neutralization of several BHTs”, General Enenche said in the update.
The airstrikes come after hundreds of students were abducted by gunmen in Katsina, President Buhari’s home state.
