The operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Imo State Police Command have arrested a notorious kidnap suspect in the state, Chima Okorie, popularly known as Aboki.
The operatives also rescued an entertainer, Izuchukwu Obiakor, who was kidnapped by the gang.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Orlando Ikeokwu, told our correspondent on Tuesday that the SARS Commandant, Victor Godfrey, led the operation.
Ikeokwu, who said the state Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Ladodo, was happy with the SARS operatives, added that the arrest of the suspect was huge boost to the command.

He stated, “On October 14, the notorious kidnap suspect was arrested at Umuezu Ndegwu in the Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad and vigilante operatives in the area in connection with the kidnap of Izuchukwu Obiakor in July 2018 in which the suspect and his gang members made away with the victim’s ash Toyota Highlander SUV after collecting ransom.
During the operation, which led to the arrest, the suspect sustained severe head injuries and was subsequently treated in a clinic.
“It is worthy to note that one Dedan Osuoha was previously arrested following the said kidnap incident by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad and is presently in prison custody.
“Okorie has made useful statements confessing to the crime and stated that he fled to Zaria after the kidnap of the victim. Investigation has commenced and efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing members of the gang.”
