A pan-Lagos Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Egbe Omoluabi Eko (Egbe), has said that, the good people of Lagos State have put the State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu under watch with a view to determining his political fate again at the appropriate time.
The Convener of the NGO, Comrade Ekundayo Ibrahim, who made this remarks at a casual encounter with newsmen in Ikeja Sunday, said, “it is not a hidden matter that, very soon, the people would be called upon to decide the next line of action for the people in power, asserting that, “Sanwo-Olu would not be an exception.”
According to him, the performances of all the administrators across the country, including Sanwo-Olu would serve as their answer sheet to be marked by the people who would deserve promotion, demotion, expulsion or redeployment, insisting that, “none of them can scale through to the next level without the proper scrutiny by the people that gave them the current mandate.”
When asked whether he was referring to his second term chance, Ibrahim was not very categorical when he responded that, “all what I know is that we would be called out soon to assess their performances and give verdict,” assuring that, “when that time comes, there would not be a shortcut for non-performing officers in elective positions as their performance sheet would be looked into and act accordingly.”
The vocal activist however quickly added, “mark you, I am not campaigning for a second term for anybody as doing so now could amount to jumping the gun,” stating however that, “whether we like it or not, the whistle for that would be blown and we would be free to freely talk about a second term in office.”
When asked to assess Governor Sanwo-Olu’s performance this while, Ibrahim volunteered that, “in Lagos State today, even the blind could see that, the man at the helms of the affairs is doing a good job across the length and breadth of the state,” asserting that, “he is really walking his talk vis a vis his electioneering promises in 2019.”
The NGO leader however declared that he was not speaking for any other person or groups, “my interaction with people of the state has convinced me that they are also seeing things the way I am seeing things,” submitting that, “if things continue the way we are seeing them till 2023, the gubernatorial fez cap would still fit his head.”
