The first technologically built modular secondary school in Nigeria was, on Wednesday, opened by Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu at Vetland Junior Grammar School, Agege.
At the opening ceremony, the governor said it was “another milestone intervention in our ongoing transformation of the education sector in Lagos State.”
Seven months ago, Sanwo-Olu had commissioned an ultra-modern 18-classroom block, with sporting facilities, at Elemoro Comprehensive Junior Secondary School, Ibeju-Lekki, and had promised to replicate such at all the education districts of Lagos State.

At the Vetland Junior Grammar School, the governor said the goal of his administration is to build schools of the future, public schools that are driven by cutting-edge technology and that can compete favorably with the schools anywhere in the world.
Since he came on board, Sanwo-Olu added his administration has constructed more than 800 new classroom blocks in the public school system and has rehabilitated about 200 public primary and secondary schools.
The Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo said the school was in fulfillment of the Sanwo-Olu’s administration to improve the education sector.

“It is another promise delivered by the governor. In years to come, people will pass by, point at it and remember the man who built. The school is the olden day model school. This is the school that had the best WAEC results for two consecutive years. When this administration came on board, the governor made it clear he wanted to improve the education sector. We have invested in so many schools, ” she said.
The containerised two-storey building school has facilities such as a basketball court, badminton court, a five-aside football pitch, a smart library, tablets for each of the students, a CCTV camera, while all the classrooms are equipped with interactive touch-screens, among others
