The 6 Division Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, has handed over 14 suspects to the Rivers State Police command, allegedly involved in electoral violence during the last Presidential and National Assembly elections.

It would be recalled that last week same Division paraded 53 suspects arrested for various electoral offences in the state.
The suspects were paraded on Tuesday at the Division Officers Mess before they were handed over to the police for further investigation.
The Division Deputy Public Relations Officer, Col Iliyasu Aminu, who spoke to Journalists at the Mess, disclosed that the suspects were arrested at Abonema town in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area and Iwofe, in Port Harcourt LGA, all in Rivers state.
Col. Iliyasu said, “It is a standard practice for the Nigerian Army to handover arrested suspects and exhibits if any to the Nigerian Police for further investigations and possible prosecution.
“Today, we are here to handover 14 additional suspects who were arrested on February 23, 2019 during the last presidential and National Assembly elections for various offences which bothers on violence.
“We are handing them over to the Rivers State Police Command for further investigation and probably if they are found culpable they will definitely be prosecuted.”
However, the Division Garrison commander, Adeola Kalejaiye who represented the General Officer Commanding the Division, Maj Gen Sarham Jamil handed over the suspects to ACP Victor Onyeugo from the State Criminal Investigation Department, for further investigation and possible prosecution by the State Police Command.
