One of the authorised revenue collectors and partners of the Anambra Internal Revenue Service, Bigly Oil & Gas Services, has said the group was not given any revenue targets by the Anambra State government.

The group cleared the air on Saturday at a briefing following rumours in some quarters that the group was given a revenue collection target to meet by the government.

According to the group’s Project Manager, Chukwuma Nwabuikwu, the only mandate they were given by the state governor, Chukwuma Soludo was ‘ to improve greatly on what we met on ground with serious efforts to ensure the drastic reduction of the number of illegal revenue collectors on the streets and roads across the state.”

He added that the company is not the only authorised revenue collection partner of AIRS, adding that there are other companies in charge of revenue on granite, inter-state buses, stickers and other areas.

“Bigly Oil & Gas Services is just one firm out of many partners of AIRS and authorised revenue collectors in Anambra State. We are primarily in charge of revenue on haulage,” he said.

He added: “In order to forestall illegal collections and impersonation, our front line duty agents wear customized jackets, Bigly branded caps with their ID cards hung around their necks. In the markets and parks, our personnel wear Bigly branded t-shirts and caps equally with their identity cards around their necks.”

Chukwuma reiterated the group’s commitment to improving the internally generated revenue of Anambra. State.
He further said as a responsible partner of the AIRS, the group has personnel trained and educated on the rules of engagement, properly kitted with proper identification to distinguish them from urchins as well as a Quality Control Unit in the three Senatorial Districts of the State, for seamless services.
