The former Emir of Kano and the Former CBN Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has berated northern politicians, criticising the Federal Government’s decision to move some departments of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), in Abuja, to Lagos.
The former monarch, who was a one-time Governor of the apex bank advised the Federal Government and the relevant authorities to ignore the noise by the these politicians.
Sanusi threw his weight behind the decision of the CBN to move some of its departments from Abuja to Lagos State, noting that Abuja is the capital of Nigeria and should not only a northern issue.
In a statement he released, Sanusi advised Yemi Cardoso, the CBN Governor, to consider mothers with kids and some individuals with medical issues in the relocation exercise.
“Northern politicians will shout that this is moving from Abuja to Lagos. Abuja is a federal capital not a northern issue. So long as this is a principled decision, the noise should be ignored,” the statement read in part.
He also cited the opposition he had faced from some individuals and religious organisations, including the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, which he ignored and licenced the bank but nothing happened.
