The current Queen Moremi Ajasoro (QMA), Miss Toluhi Oreoluwa, has advised young ladies to engage in positive ventures that would make them become financially independent and self-reliant in 2019.
The 19-year-old beauty queen told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that being financially independent should be one of the young ladies Year 2019 resolutions.
“My message to all young ladies and youths as they prepare for the New Year 2019, is to think of viable ventures that will make them self–reliant as part of their New Year resolutions.
“That will help them restructure their lifestyles.
“They should reflect on Year 2018 and think of how they can mend their loose edges either in their academics, business ventures or in their social lives.’’
The 300-level student of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) said that young ladies should not rely on men for their survival or existence.
She said that such could have a negative outcome on them.
“Ladies should not see themselves as liabilities or feel they have to be dependent on men for financial purposes, gone are such days.

“They should believe in themselves that they can achieve anything they put their minds to, that will boost the country’s economy,” she said.
She frowned at some young girls who were fond of engaging themselves in illegal activities rather than facing their studies.
“I think it is very important for young ladies to face their studies squarely because education is the passport to the future.
“There is virtually not much one can achieve without formal education or vocational training,” she said.
The former Miss Surulere 2017 also warned young ladies against falling preys to those people who come around during the Yuletide with empty promises of better life abroad.
“Do not listen to those people who will want to lure you into going abroad to work, it is a kind of human trafficking and slavery. So, be bold enough to say no to such offer,” she said.
The queen also spoke on her experience at the Queen Moremi beauty pageant held in Abeokuta on December 1.
She applauded the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi’s initiative that led to the establishment of the cultural pageant.
“I learnt a lot about our cultural heritage and tradition from the event despite being my first experience. It has been wonderful so far.
“It is really a laudable initiative by Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, it really trains young ladies to discover more about their culture and heritage as well as appreciate it,” she said.
The Osun indigene said that her first mission as the third queen would be to visit the orphanage, the motherless babies’ home and disabled because they needed love and affection.
