Benue’s second COVID-19 patient, quarantined at the Federal Medical Center, Makurdi, is responding to treatment.
Disclosing this, while speaking to journalists on the fight against the disease, Secretary to the state’s Action Committee on COVID-19 and Commissioner for Health, Dr. Sunday Ongbabo, said the patient who came from Kano has been cooperating with the committee.
He disclosed that the patient’s contact persons have equally cooperated, and added that their samples were being taken for tests.
Ongbabo said results of the tests of the samples of the 14 Kano persons who were intercepted in a bus were being expected, pointing out that any of them that tests positive would be treated while the rest would be taken back.

According to him, the major problem facing the committee was the influx of people from high risk areas into the state.
He urged the people to alert the committee when any of their brothers, sisters, friends, husbands and wives arrive Blenue State.
The health commissioner also warned that if any family member goes out, such a person must be told to observe the rules while others main social distancing.
He cautioned the people against careless handling of money maintaining that money can easily be contaminated.
The expert on the handling of emergency health situations advised the people to wash their hands each time they handle money.
He further advised that money should be kept in wallets or other places where it would not frequently touched and counseled that safety tips like frequent hand washing, use of sanitizers and sneezing into elbows or handkerchiefs as well as social distancing should be observed.
While commending Benue people on their efforts so far, Dr. Ongbabo urged medical doctors and other health workers to continue to be steadfast and proactive
He assured that the committee under the chairmanship of the deputy governor, Engr. Benson Abounu, would not toy with the welfare of health workers and stressed that the risks being taken by them cannot be overlooked.
Ongbabo took time to explain that the committee decided to fumigate markets and a lot of other paces so as to eliminate infectious diseases and keep the environment save for some time.
